  101. Pressing (ALT-S) will allow you to shell to DOS without exiting
  102. README.  This allows you to perform DOS related functions such as
  103. formatting disks, copying files or any other needed activity.  When
  104. you are finished just type EXIT and you will immediately return to
  105. README exactly where you were when you shelled to DOS.

  115. MONOCHROME MODE
  116. The MONO command line option forces the program into a monochrome
  117. mode thus eliminating the use of colors.  Normally, README will
  118. detect the type of video card in your computer and adjust the colors
  119. accordingly.  However, if you are using a color card (CGA, EGA or
  120. VGA) and a monochrome monitor, README will attempt to display
  121. colors.  This may be difficult to read.  To override the auto-detect
  122. and force the program into a monochrome mode, start README as such:

  179. MY MONEY is a personal finance manager designed to be intuitive and
  180. easy to use.  It was written for those people who prefer not to be
  181. bothered with all the underlying accounting gibberish, but are more
  182. interested in painless personal finances with minimal user

  205. MY TIME is a complete personal information manager.  The calendar
  206. section schedules and tracks important events such as business
  207. meetings, appointments, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

  209. The Dialer Module organizes phone numbers and people lists.  It
  210. allows you to create up to 200 directories with 100 entries in each.
  211. It will even dial the phone number for you, if you have a Hayes
  212. compatible modem set to COM1 or COM2.

  214. A Lister Module is available to accumulate historical data.  Uses

  282. ABOUT J.E. SMITH SOFTWARE
  283. J.E. Smith Software was created in 1988 with the release of MY MONEY
  284. v1.00.  The company consists of two part-time employees -- my wife
  285. and myself.

  287. Like many shareware authors, I work a day job to pay the bills.  I
  288. am financial analyst for a Fortune 500 company headquartered in
  289. Birmingham, Alabama.  My specialty is financial information systems.

  291. My first contact with computers was in a business computer class my
  292. sophomore year in college.  That was my only "formal" training.  I
  293. have since spent many sleepless nights pounding away on the
  294. keyboard.  My first computer was a TRS-80 Model III with a whopping
  295. 48k of memory -- no hard disk.  The computer has changed several
  296. times, the sleepless nights have not.

  305.   This will be the first major overhaul of SPEED READ since its

  324. Shareware is not a type of software, but instead a way of marketing
  325. software.  Shareware allows you to evaluate a piece of software in
  326. your environment for a predetermined period of time.  At the end of
  327. the time period you decide whether you want to pay for the right to
  328. continue using the software or quit using it.

  330. There are many advantages to shareware over traditionally marketed
  331. software.  They include the ability to thoroughly test a program on
  332. your system before buying it, access to the author, more value per
  333. dollar, frequent upgrades, specialty programs, and many more.

  335. The long-term success of shareware is dependent on the integrity of
  336. those who use the products.  As a shareware author, I rely on your

  346. HOW TO ORDER
  347. To print an order form, press (ALT-O).  README will execute the
  348. program ORDER.EXE, an automated order form.  If ORDER.EXE cannot be
  349. located, the file ORDER.FRM is sent to LPT1.  I highly recommend
  350. that you use ORDER.EXE to complete the order form.  This will help
  351. eliminate delays caused by illegible handwriting and ensure you get
  352. the lowest possible price.
