MONOCHROME MODE
The MONO command line option forces the program into a monochrome
mode thus eliminating the use of colors. Normally, README will
detect the type of video card in your computer and adjust the colors
accordingly. However, if you are using a color card (CGA, EGA or
VGA) and a monochrome monitor, README will attempt to display
colors. This may be difficult to read. To override the auto-detect
and force the program into a monochrome mode, start README as such:

ABOUT J.E. SMITH SOFTWARE
J.E. Smith Software was created in 1988 with the release of MY MONEY
v1.00. The company consists of two part-time employees -- my wife
and myself.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Like many shareware authors, I work a day job to pay the bills. I
am financial analyst for a Fortune 500 company headquartered in
Birmingham, Alabama. My specialty is financial information systems.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
My first contact with computers was in a business computer class my
sophomore year in college. That was my only "formal" training. I
have since spent many sleepless nights pounding away on the
keyboard. My first computer was a TRS-80 Model III with a whopping
48k of memory -- no hard disk. The computer has changed several
times, the sleepless nights have not.

SHAREWARE
Shareware is not a type of software, but instead a way of marketing
software. Shareware allows you to evaluate a piece of software in
your environment for a predetermined period of time. At the end of
the time period you decide whether you want to pay for the right to
continue using the software or quit using it.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
There are many advantages to shareware over traditionally marketed
software. They include the ability to thoroughly test a program on
your system before buying it, access to the author, more value per
dollar, frequent upgrades, specialty programs, and many more.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The long-term success of shareware is dependent on the integrity of
those who use the products. As a shareware author, I rely on your
honesty to pay for the continued use of my products. If you use my
products beyond the evaluation period, please register them. This
will certainly encourage me to maintain them and develop more.

HOW TO ORDER
To print an order form, press (ALT-O). README will execute the
program ORDER.EXE, an automated order form. If ORDER.EXE cannot be
located, the file ORDER.FRM is sent to LPT1. I highly recommend
that you use ORDER.EXE to complete the order form. This will help
eliminate delays caused by illegible handwriting and ensure you get
the lowest possible price.
